Fundamentals of the Capability Maturity Model®
(CMM®)
The Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute's
(SEI's) Capability Maturity Model for Software provides an evolutionary strategy for
software organizations to use in developing a mature, disciplined, software process. It
covers practices for planning, engineering, and managing software development and
maintenance. The CMM was developed under the guidance of SEI Fellow Watts Humphrey. This
two-day course teaches the principles and concepts of the CMM. The textbook for the
course, The Capability Maturity Model: Guidelines for Improving the Software Process,
is provided.
